The Political Leader of the Liberian People’s Party (LPP) Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe is urging President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to declare road construction as an emergency. According to him, President Boakai needs to ensure that more earth moving equipment is deployed on the road leading from Tapita to Grand Gedeh County if his one hundred days promise to the Liberian People on the issue of road is to become a reality. Speaking on the Truth FM Morning Show, Cllr. Gongloe said, “The President has to start doing something now if his pronouncement of cars not getting stuck in the mud is to be realized.”

Cllr. Gongloe, the defeated Presidential Candidate, also emphasized the need for President Boakai to take the road issue seriously, stating that “People do not tell Presidents the truth.” He further emphasized that the road to the southeast will not be playable whenever rain falls and urged the President to take immediate action.

Having fully supported the election of President Boakai, Cllr. Gongloe indicated his commitment to ensuring the success of the government by providing advice to the Liberian leader. He also disclosed that he visited the southeastern part of the country and observed that the road condition is not perfect. According to him, if the rainy season arrives, the southeastern road will be cut off from the rest of the country. He stressed the need for the President to take the road issue as an emergency and not solely focus on the Public Procurement Process.

Addressing the issue of appointing members of his party, Cllr. Gongloe clarified that he did not make the job a precondition for his support. However, he mentioned that his party has trained individuals and he has presented a CV to the President for some of his people to be included. He emphasized his willingness to support his supporters in getting the opportunity to serve the country, stating that he will not change his attitude if offered a job and that he wants his supporters to have the opportunity to serve the country.

Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe’s advocacy for road construction as an emergency and his dedication to supporting the government while also ensuring the inclusion of his supporters highlights the importance of infrastructure development and inclusivity in national development. As a prominent political figure and lawyer in Liberia, his recommendations carry weight and reflect the concerns of many Liberians regarding the state of infrastructure, particularly in remote regions such as the southeastern part of the country. His perspective serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges and the pressing need for infrastructure development to ensure connectivity and access to opportunities for all Liberians.
