Bothata Mahlala, a businessman, has partnered with the National University of Lesotho through his foundation, the Bothata Mahlala Development Foundation (BMDF), to establish a quality assurance center at the university. This collaboration aims to enhance the education sector by ensuring that university students are well-trained to meet industrial needs and become future business leaders post-graduation. The BMDF will finance the acquisition of necessary equipment and cover operational expenses for the quality assurance center, while NUL will provide land, expertise, training, and research materials for the students.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by BMDF and NUL outlines the theme of ‘striving for excellence in education’ for this project. The BMDF, established last year, focuses on helping less privileged children in Lesotho access educational opportunities.
