Doïla, March 22 (AMAP) The official launch of the regional vaccination campaign against measles and rubella took place on Friday at the central Community Health Center (CESCOM) in Doïla, under the chairmanship of the Regional Governor’s Adviser for Administrative and Legal Affairs, Jean Marie Sagara, as observed by AMAP.

It was attended by regional directors, local elected officials, representatives of religious leaders, women’s associations, youth, NGOs, health workers, and the media.

Measles and rubella are two dangerous diseases that predominantly affect children. This is another reason why the Malian authorities are stepping up their efforts.

At the beginning, the village chief of Dioila, Bagniantou Marico, warmly welcomed everyone.

The mayor of the rural commune of Kkaladougou, Yacouba Dowele Marico, recalled the ravages of measles in the recent past. He then called on mothers to bring their children out to be vaccinated.

The local department head, Dowele Marico, praised the efforts of the Transitional authorities for the well-being of the Malian population, especially children.

UNICEF representative Touré emphasized in his remarks the vision of the organization to achieve a vaccination rate of 95% of children by 2030.

“This is possible if everyone gets involved,” Mr. Touré argued. Like the mayor, he urged the population to mobilize to achieve the set goals.

For the governor’s representative, Jean Marie Sagara, Adviser for Administrative and Legal Affairs, this is the realization of a political will expressed by the Malian authorities.

The representative of the regional executive chief also congratulated the Malian State and its financial partners for all the efforts made for the well-being of the population, especially children.

Mr. Sagara, after administering the first dose to young Adja Marico, called on the Banico population to unite for the success of the vaccination campaign.

It is worth noting that this one-week vaccination campaign targets children aged 9 to 14 months. In the Dioila health district, 170,609 children are targeted, and 145,519 in Fana.
