The National Association for Physical Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (NAPHER-SD) Lagos State chapter announced plans to collaborate with the National Institute for Sports (NIS) to host a three-day seminar/workshop from April 16 to 18 at the Gymnasium hall, National Institute for Sports, National Stadium, Lagos. The main focus of the seminar/workshop will be on Skill Advancement For Lagos State Physical and Health Education Teachers in both secondary and primary schools. Various sub-themes will be explored during the event including Safety measures in schools sports, sport data analytics, development of grassroots sports through Physical Education theory and practical lessons, the need for capacity building among Physical Education teachers to address current challenges, and talent identification and development in schools.
A statement from NAPHER-SD revealed that the programme will be chaired by NIS Director General, Prof. Olawale Moronkola, with Prof. Abiodun Moronfolu, former HOD of Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education at Lagos State University, Ojo, serving as the Keynote speaker. Dr. Sunday Odior, chairman of NAPHER-SD Lagos, will act as the Chief host, and Dr. Johnson Williams will serve as the host of the organising committee.
The seminar/workshop aims to gather educators, experts, and stakeholders in the field of Physical and Health Education to discuss and address key issues facing the sector. With the support and participation of government officials, including Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Jamiu Alli-Balogun, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in Lagos State, the event is expected to be highly impactful and informative.
