Kigezi mourns celebrated, pioneer radiographer

Hundreds of mourners on Thursday gathered at Nyamabare village in Rwenyangi parish, Kamwezi sub-county in Rukiga District to pay their last respect to Veleriano Kibahigire Kambamu who succumbed to heart failure at 92.

Many eulogised him as one of the first Ugandans to study radiography in the United Kingdom at the time when the country badly needed such services.
Kambamu died on May 3, 2026 at a hospital in Kampala where he was receiving treatment for diabetes and heart related conditions, according to his daughter, Ms Mary Kibahigire.
