The details of a working visit to Morocco were discussed between the Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Korir Sing’Oei, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad, according to Kenyan media reports.
Sing’Oei visited Morocco on March 21 to deliver a letter from President Ruto to the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, requesting an official visit. The agenda for this visit includes discussions on establishing a fertilizer company in Kenya. Currently, Kenyan Agriculture Minister Mithika Linturi is in talks with OCP regarding this matter.
Kenya is looking to follow in the footsteps of Nigeria and Ethiopia, two African countries that have benefited from Moroccan expertise in the fertilizer industry.
This announcement comes three weeks after the opening of a Kenyan embassy in Morocco. On March 8, Mr. Ruto appointed Jessica Muthoni Gakinya as the new Kenyan ambassador to the Kingdom.
