Kenya: Winnie Byanyima Reveals the Dire Health Condition of Detained Kizza Besigye

The wife of Ugandan opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye, who was captured by Ugandan agents in Nairobi in 2024, Winnie Byanyima, has disclosed that President Yoweri Museveni’s former personal physician is in declining health while being held at Luzira Maximum Security Prison. 

In an update following a visit by Besigye’s personal physician, Byanyima said her husband’s condition continues to deteriorate, noting that he is only beginning to respond slowly and painfully to treatment.
