The government is weighing a reduction in both Value Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax in the 2026 Finance Bill as part of efforts to ease the burden on Kenyan taxpayers. 

Treasury Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo made the revelations on Thursday, January 29, during the ongoing legislative retreat in Naivasha, where he was briefing the lawmakers on the state of the economy, development aspirations, and ongoing tax reforms.
