A brewing storm in Western Kenya has sparked tensions, with Ford-Kenya leaders accusing Trans Nzoia Governor Natembeya of undermining Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula. The leaders voiced their concerns during a funeral service in Bungoma County, cautioning the Governor that his actions are derailing the region’s political ambitions.

The leaders emphasized that Natembeya’s continuous negative remarks about the two senior leaders and Ford-Kenya politicians in general are disrespectful and not aligned with his role as a community leader. They urged the Governor to show respect towards their leadership and refrain from casting them in a negative light.

Asserting their party’s historical significance as the second-oldest in Kenya, the leaders reminded Natembeya of the importance of showing respect towards Ford-Kenya. However, they also warned that they were prepared to engage in further conflict if the Governor persisted in his approach.

In response, Governor Natembeya defended his stance, stating that he was unafraid to criticize Western leaders if he believed they were leading the community astray. He clarified that his actions were not meant as a sign of disrespect, but rather a way to express his dissent when necessary.

The tensions escalated on Saturday when MCAs aligned with Governor Natembeya clashed with Ford-Kenya members over the ongoing stalemate. The MCAs supporting the Governor accused the party of sabotaging his leadership, while Ford-Kenya members accused the Governor of undermining their leader, Moses Wetangula.

Earlier comments made by Natembeya criticizing the party’s leaders and questioning their suitability for leadership further fueled the discord within the community. As the wrangles deepen, different factions continue to stand firm in their beliefs, intensifying the divisions within the region.

Despite the ongoing conflicts, it is crucial for all parties involved to find common ground and work towards unity for the betterment of the Western Kenya region. Respecting each other’s perspectives and engaging in constructive dialogue can help to bridge the gaps and foster a more harmonious political environment. It is essential for leaders to prioritize the interests of the community above personal agendas and differences to promote progress and development in the region.
