President William Ruto was honored with the prestigious ‘Medalha Amílcar Cabral’ in Guinea-Bissau on Friday, April 5. This medal, the highest honor of the West African State, is awarded to individuals who demonstrate exceptional bravery and leadership in their respective fields.
Upon receiving the medal, President Ruto expressed his gratitude and reaffirmed his commitment to unite and transform Africa. He stated, “Humbled to be presented with the ‘Medalha Amílcar Cabral’, Guinea-Bissau’s Medal of Honor. We will keep combining efforts to unite and transform Africa.”
This recognition came on the heels of President Ruto being awarded the Companion of the Order of the Star of the Volta by Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo on April 3. President Akufo-Addo commended Ruto as a symbol of a new generation of African leaders and praised his dedication to upholding the rule of law in Kenya.
During his state visit to Guinea-Bissau, President Ruto emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. He acknowledged the low levels of trade and investment between Kenya and Guinea-Bissau but expressed optimism about potential improvements with the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement.
President Ruto also highlighted the areas of cooperation between Kenya and Guinea-Bissau, including security, agriculture, the Blue Economy, and environmental conservation. He emphasized the mutual benefits that both countries could derive from collaborating in these sectors.

Following his discussions with President Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Ruto emphasized the significance of the agreements signed between the two countries in strengthening their historic collaboration.
