Kenya: Ruto Approves Ksh4 Billion to Clear NHIF Pending Bills in Supplementary Budget

President William Ruto has announced the allocation of Ksh 4 billion to settle pending bills and debts under the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The announcement came after the head of state assented to the  Supplementary Appropriations Bill, 2026, on Wednesday, April 8. The bill, now an act,  increases total expenditure by KSh393 billion from KSh4.3 trillion to KSh4.69 trillion.
