The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) recently made an announcement regarding a public auction of vehicles, with prices starting as low as Ksh103,000. The agency revealed that they were offering a variety of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for sale, with two main brands, the Chery Tiggo from China and the Daihatsu Terios from Japan, listed for the auction.
The cheapest vehicle available for sale is the Daihatsu Terios, priced at Ksh103,250, while the Chery Tiggo is the most expensive with a price tag of Ksh206,500. The auction is scheduled to take place on March 14 at the Kawi Complex in South C. Potential buyers were advised to visit the REREC offices on Mombasa Road to view the vehicles prior to participating in the auction process.
Interested bidders were required to make a refundable deposit of Ksh10,000 per vehicle in cash or a banker’s cheque payable to Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation in order to obtain a bidding number and a catalogue. It was emphasized that successful bidders would need to make the payment and remove the vehicles from the yard within 14 days after the sale. Payment could be made in cash, banker’s cheque, or electronic funds transfer, failure to do so would result in forfeiture of the deposit and the vehicles being offered for sale again. Additionally, a storage fee of Ksh500 per day would be incurred for vehicles not removed within the stipulated time.
