The President of Kenya, William Ruto, is mediating in an effort to resolve the tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia, stemming from the sea agreement between Ethiopia and Somaliland.

William Ruto, who is trying to mediate between Hassan Sheikh and Abiy Ahmed, was rejected by the President of Somalia who stated that there will be no dialogue with Abiy Ahmed until Ethiopia withdraws from the agreement they made with Somaliland.

Abiy Ahmed has emphasized that the agreement was purely economic and not intended to cause any harm.

Kenya has warned both Addis Ababa and Mogadishu to carefully consider their statements and not undermine each other.

According to diplomatic sources, on Thursday when the two leaders of Somalia and Ethiopia arrived in Nairobi, it was agreed that they would not discuss sensitive issues publicly later.
