The National Heroes Council (NHC) has nominated the late former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, among the 242 Kenyans proposed for national hero status in 2026, alongside independence-era freedom fighter Pio Gama Pinto.
From a document obtained by Kenyans.co.ke on September 2, Odinga has been honoured posthumously for his role as a statesman, patriot and constitutional reformer who shaped Kenya’s democratic journey.
