Kenya: PS Bitok Orders Immediate Readmission of Student Expelled For Wearing Hijab

Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok has ordered the immediate admission of a Grade 10 student at Lwak Girls High School who was allegedly expelled for wearing a hijab.

Bitok gave the orders on Thursday, February 26, terming the act discriminatory and contrary to the Constitution.

The directive followed an appearance by the PS before the national assembly departmental committee on education, where he was questioned about the school’s action.
