The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) in Kenya has announced extended operation hours to expedite the issuance of uncollected logbooks, number plates, and smart Driving Licences (DLs). This move comes as a response to the increasing number of uncollected items at their offices.

In a statement dated Thursday, February 29, NTSA revealed that their offices nationwide will be open on Saturday, March 2, from 8 am to 1 pm to facilitate these services. The decision to extend the working hours was made to accommodate the growing demand for these essential documents.

“We note an increase in service applications and the Authority has produced the outputs within record time. As a result, we currently have thousands of uncollected Logbooks, Number Plates, and Smart DLs,” NTSA emphasized in their statement. They urged their clients who have received SMS notifications to visit the respective NTSA office identified during the application process to collect their pending items.

For individuals picking up their Logbooks, they are required to bring their previous Logbooks and an original ID. Those collecting new generation number plates must present their old plates along with an original ID. As for those collecting their smart DLs, only their original IDs are needed.

NTSA highlighted the improvement in their service delivery through the reengineering of their business processes and the adoption of a one-stop shop for all NTSA services. This has enhanced service quality, empowered clients, and streamlined back-office processes. Real-time service status updates and SMS notifications are now provided to clients upon the approval and processing of their service requests.

According to NTSA, number plates are processed within 7 working days, smart DLs take 5 working days, and logbooks are processed in just 3 days. This efficiency in processing times has been attributed to the recent improvements in their operational procedures.

The NTSA also confirmed that their system now provides timelines for the various services offered on the eCitizen platform, making it easier for clients to track the progress of their applications. The authority is committed to improving their services and ensuring that clients receive their essential documents in a timely manner.

Overall, the extended operation hours and the enhanced service delivery by NTSA signify a commitment to meeting the growing demands of the Kenyan public and ensuring a seamless process for acquiring important documents related to transportation and safety.
