Israel Osagie, a Nigerian serving in the US Army, recently expressed his admiration for the warm and welcoming nature of Kenyans during his time on a mission in the country. As part of the multinational military mission known as Justified Accord (JA24), Osagie has been training in Nanyuki for the past week, hosted by the Kenyan military.

Reflecting on his experience in Kenya, Osagie shared that he felt inspired by the Kenyan Spirit and the hospitality he received from the locals. Despite wearing his U.S. Army uniform, Osagie was embraced and accepted as part of the culture by the Kenyan people, which he found to be heartwarming and welcoming.

Having joined the U.S. Army in 2021 as a practical nursing specialist with the 425th Medical Detachment, 176th Medical Brigade, and 807th Medical Command, Osagie appreciated his time in Kenya and expressed gratitude for everything the country has offered, including its rich culture.

The JA24 mission, considered the largest operation of its kind in East Africa, is being held in Kenya and brings together 1,000 service men and 23 nations led by the U.S. Army. This mission not only provides an opportunity for soldiers to exchange ideas and training skills between militaries but also allows them to interact with the local community. As part of the mission itinerary, the soldiers have been engaged in community service activities, including offering medical services.

The mission, which started on February 26, is set to conclude on Thursday, March 7. Throughout the duration of the training, Osagie and his fellow soldiers have immersed themselves in the Kenyan culture and have appreciated the warm reception they have received from the locals.

In addition to their military training activities, the soldiers have taken time to engage in community outreach efforts and have provided valuable medical services to the local population. This interaction with the Kenyan community has been a rewarding and enriching experience for Osagie and his colleagues.

Overall, Osagie’s positive remarks about his time in Kenya highlight the strong bonds of friendship and camaraderie that have developed between the U.S. Army and the Kenyan people. The exchange of knowledge and skills between the different militaries has been beneficial for all parties involved, fostering greater cooperation and understanding among nations.
