Kenya: Mombasa Governor Orders Inspection of All Passenger Boats After Fatal Capsizing

Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has ordered immediate and rigorous inspections of all vessels ferrying members of the public along the Coast in a fresh push to strengthen maritime safety.

The directive follows a leisure boat accident in Tudor Creek on Saturday evening in which a vessel capsized after encountering strong waves.

Five people were rescued following the accident, while two adults who had initially been reported missing were found dead near Nyali Beach on Sunday.
