Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu and Senator Ledama Ole Kina found themselves in a heated confrontation during an Interdenominational Prayer Service attended by President Ruto. The root of their clash stemmed from skirmishes related to a disputed piece of land within Kilgoris.
Senator Ledama Ole Kina pointed out that the border dispute between Uasin Gishu County and Narok had simmered down due to the timely intervention of security forces two weeks prior to the President’s visit. However, Governor Ntutu refuted this claim by asserting that the county government was already in the process of resolving the issue without the Senator’s knowledge. Ntutu emphasized the ongoing efforts by the County Government to address the matter, dismissing the notion that the peace was solely maintained because of the President’s visit.
In a direct challenge to the Narok Senator, Ntutu urged Ledama to familiarize himself with the history of the contested land by visiting the area more frequently and stepping away from the confines of Nairobi. He insinuated that the Senator lacked a comprehensive understanding of the issue and therefore lacked credibility in discussing it.
Furthermore, Senator Ole Kina criticized Governors for prioritizing personal gain over the development of their counties. He also faulted the national government for not increasing the capitation to County governments, resulting in stalled development projects within the counties.
Meanwhile, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, at an event in Kapsabet Boys High School, expressed his determination to address the issue of hecklers disrupting President William Ruto’s meetings. Gachagua declared his intention to summon all involved leaders to address the matter and prevent such disruptive incidents from reoccurring in the future.
The political landscape in Narok County was further stirred by the clash between Governor Ntutu and Senator Ledama Ole Kina, highlighting the challenges surrounding land disputes and political dynamics. The exchange between the two leaders underscored the importance of effective communication and collaboration in resolving contentious issues for the benefit of the community and the region as a whole.
