The Kenya Revenue Authority has unveiled a new tool for the public to verify the identity of KRA staff to prevent extortion and impersonation.
In a notice on Friday, May 22, KRA stated that the move followed public uproar over complaints that fraudsters were impersonating KRA officials and extorting money from them.
The authority said scammers have been posing as KRA employees and attempting to solicit money by falsely promising assistance in tax and procurement-related processes.
