The Central Bank of Kenya announced on February 13 that Kenyans sent home a total of Ksh53 billion in remittances in January 2026.
This was a 3.8 per cent decrease from Ksh55.1 billion recorded in January 2025, marking a year-on-year drop of approximately Ksh2 billion.
Despite the monthly decline, diaspora remittances increased over 12 months, rising from Ksh640.9 billion to Ksh648.7 billion, a 1.2 percent increase.
