The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA)  has partnered with the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI) to address the road safety crisis in Mombasa County after data showed pedestrians as the most vulnerable road users in the city.

According to a five-year safety review between 2019 and 2024, pedestrians in Mombasa emerged as the most vulnerable road users, with the findings triggering the partnership between KeNHA and GDCI  to redesign the city’s deadliest blackspots.
