Wiper Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, recently stated that he has no interest in being part of President William Ruto’s government, despite a recent truce between the opposition and the Head of State. In an interview on Inooro TV, Kalonzo clarified that rumors of a National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) handshake government were baseless. He emphasized that while NADCO had prepared a framework for stability in the country, it did not imply that the opposition was seeking a share of the government.
Kalonzo firmly stated, “There is no NADCO government because there is a lot to be done. Without that, there can be no working together.” He expressed his readiness to remain in the opposition and fight for the rights of Kenyans, rather than join Ruto’s government. Kalonzo’s primary objective at the moment is to resist Ruto’s government and work towards removing the fifth president of Kenya from power.
The Wiper Leader also expressed concerns that Raila and Ruto may have differing agreements that do not align with his political vision. He mentioned that he had prepared the NADCO report, and if Raila and Ruto fail to implement its recommendations, he should not be held responsible for its failure. Kalonzo highlighted that it was Raila and Ruto who initiated the idea of creating a dialogue committee and appointed him as the co-chair alongside National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw’ah.
Furthermore, Kalonzo reiterated his stance on the 8 Bills created by the NADCO committee, stating that subjecting them to additional public participation is unnecessary. He argued that the Bills were developed based on suggestions from Kenyans, eliminating the need for a second round of public input.
Despite his cooperation with Raila and Ruto in the NADCO committee, Kalonzo is clear about his position in the opposition and his commitment to fighting for the interests of the people. He remains steadfast in his decision not to join Ruto’s government and continues to advocate for accountability and good governance in Kenya.
In conclusion, Kalonzo Musyoka’s refusal to be part of President William Ruto’s government underscores his dedication to serving the Kenyan people from the opposition. His prioritization of the nation’s stability and his unwavering commitment to fight against injustice and corruption demonstrate his integrity as a leader.
