The Government of Kenya has set aside a sum of over Ksh300 million to renovate the Manda Airport and bring electricity to the coastal island.

This move is set to streamline airport operations following years of using generators to meet the airport’s electrical needs, despite Lamu Island’s crucial role in regional trade.

This development is also part of a larger plan that aims to unite Kenya, South Sudan, and Ethiopia trade relations through the Lamu Port.
