The Kenya Kwanza government has made a significant investment of Sh600 billion towards building the human capacity in the education system of the country. Principal Secretary for the State Department of Internal Security and National Administration, Raymond Omollo, emphasized the government’s commitment to uplift education from the lowest level to the highest level.

Omollo highlighted the focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVETs) as a key area of investment. He urged the youth to enroll in TVET programs to acquire valuable skills that can contribute to the country’s economy. During a speech in Ndhiwa Constituency at the burial of Francis Acholla, a former civic leader, Omollo announced the construction of digital hubs across constituencies.

He mentioned that the law has been amended to allow the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) to build and equip these digital hubs. Omollo revealed plans to establish digital hubs in all 40 wards of Homa Bay County to enhance digital skills among the population, especially the youth.

The PS stressed the importance of supporting young people in gaining digital skills that can open up opportunities and connect them to the global community. He assured former councilors in attendance that the government is working on including their pension pay in the budget.

Omollo reassured the former civic leaders that the government is committed to addressing their concerns and advocating for their rights in the upcoming financial budget for 2024/25. He emphasized that the President William Ruto administration values the contributions of former civic leaders who played a crucial role in laying the foundation for devolution in the country.

Overall, the government’s investment in education and skills development reflects its dedication to building a strong and capable workforce that can drive economic growth and prosperity in Kenya. By focusing on TVETs and digital skills training, the government aims to equip the youth with the tools they need to succeed in the modern economy and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.
