The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) has announced an upcoming auction of KALRO-boarded assets, inviting the general public to participate. The auction will feature a wide range of items, including motor vehicles, household items, laboratory equipment, office equipment, farm equipment, scrap materials, used furniture, and ICT equipment and accessories. The event is scheduled to span over three weeks, beginning next month, and will be held in various locations across the country.
According to a notice released on February 20, KALRO intends to auction off different types of vehicles, old tires, batteries, and household items. The auction is set to commence at the KALRO headquarters in Loresho on March 1st and will subsequently take place in Garissa and Limuru on March 25th. Other auction locations include Nairobi, Mombasa, Naivasha, Kisumu, Embu, Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, and Njoro.
Interested bidders will have the opportunity to view the items at various KALRO research institutes and food centers. However, the bidding process will take place at the KALRO offices near the location of the auction. Each interested bidder must make a Refundable Bidding Fee of Ksh 50,000 per lot for any desired motor vehicle and Ksh 5,000 per lot for other categories of goods/equipment. Bidding will be conducted at least one hour before the auction, and at the fall of the hammer, the highest bidder will be required to pay 25% of the bid. If the highest bidder fails to make the payment, the item will go to the second-highest bidder.
Winning bidders are expected to collect their items within seven days after making the full payment. Failure to do so will result in a storage fee of Ksh 500 charged daily for the next thirty days. If the goods remain uncollected after this period, both the item and the payment will be forfeited. Refunds to unsuccessful bidders will be made seven days after the auction.
This auction presents an opportunity for the public to acquire a wide range of items at competitive prices. Whether it’s vehicles, household items, or office equipment, interested individuals will have the chance to participate in the bidding process and potentially walk away with their desired items.
In conclusion, the KALRO auction is an event that shouldn’t be missed, as it offers a variety of assets for sale to the general public. With multiple locations across the country, individuals from different regions will have the opportunity to participate in the auction and potentially acquire items of interest. Interested parties are encouraged to take note of the auction dates and locations and make the necessary arrangements to participate in this upcoming event.
