Kenya: Former Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Files Petition Challenging Matiang’i’s Deputy Party Leader Role

Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has challenged changes to the Jubilee Party leadership structure, including the appointment of former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i as the party’s Deputy Party Leader ahead of the 2027 General Election.

According to a statement released on May 28, Ngunjiri confirmed that he had filed a dispute before the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) against the Jubilee Party and the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
