Walter Mong’are, famously known as Nyambane, faced an unexpected turn of events on Wednesday, April 3, when he was abruptly dismissed from his position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The termination, effective immediately, was communicated through a memo signed by the Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Korir Sing’oei, stating that Nyambane would no longer serve as the Director of Programmes (Advocacy and Outreach). The memo, however, did not provide any specific reasons for his dismissal.

Sources close to the matter, speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, confirmed the authenticity of the document outlining Nyambane’s termination. Additionally, Sing’oei directed all department heads and officials to refrain from engaging with Nyambane in any official capacity. The memo explicitly stated that Nyambane was no longer authorized to represent the State Department or the Principal Secretary, instructing immediate cessation of any interactions or engagements with him.

Before his entry into politics, Nyambane gained national recognition for his comedic talents, particularly for his portrayal of former President Daniel Moi in the popular show “Redykyulass.” Following his success in the entertainment industry, Nyambane ventured into Kenyan politics and announced his candidacy for the presidency in the August 2022 General Election under the Umoja Summit Party.

Nyambane made history as the first presidential candidate cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on May 30, 2022. However, his nomination certificate was revoked a month later by the commission after he failed to respond to summons regarding his academic qualifications.

The unexpected dismissal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has brought Nyambane’s political journey to a halt. Despite his ambitions and efforts to make a mark in the political arena, his future remains uncertain following his exit from the government position. The abrupt end to his tenure at the Ministry has raised questions and speculation about the circumstances leading to his dismissal, leaving Nyambane’s supporters and the public curious about the undisclosed reasons behind the decision.

As Nyambane navigates this unexpected turn in his career, it remains to be seen how he will rebound from this setback and what his next steps will be. His experiences in both the entertainment industry and politics have shaped his public persona, making him a figure of interest and speculation in Kenyan society. Whether he will pursue other opportunities or make a comeback in a different capacity, only time will tell.
