The father of Oslo Mwendwa, who tragically passed away in a road crash involving a Kenyatta University bus, recently shared the heartbreaking story of his family’s loss. This devastating incident marked the second daughter that the family has lost in just one year. The father courageously spoke during a memorial service held at Kenyatta University, where he disclosed that the family had previously suffered the loss of another daughter in a separate road accident along Kiambu Road exactly one year and one month prior.
Reflecting on the tragic event, the father emotionally recounted, “1 year ago and 1 month, I stood before a congregation like this one along Kiambu Road to mourn the passing of my daughter Michelle through a tragic road accident on Kiambu Road.” He continued, “On that day, All lost hope besides me as the only beacon of hope. Today, the brother stands beside me as the family pays tribute to Oslo.”
Describing Oslo in his eulogy, the father shared that her sudden passing had engulfed the family in grief. He painted a picture of Oslo as a warm and compassionate soul who had a profound impact on those around her. “Our hearts are full of pain and grief as we try to come to terms with your sudden death. It is really hard to accept that your life journey on earth has ended,” he expressed. “Oslo’s spirit radiated warmth and compassion touching the lives of all fortunate enough to cross her path. Her gentle words and comforting aura were a beacon of hope in times of darkness.”
The tragic incident involving the Kenyatta University bus took place on Monday, March 18, claiming the lives of 11 individuals and leaving several others injured. A survivor of the crash recounted the harrowing experience, pointing out that the bus driver was overtaking along the busy Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. The survivor detailed how the driver’s reckless maneuvering led to a collision with an oncoming trailer, resulting in a devastating impact that claimed multiple lives.
As the community mourns the loss of Oslo and the other victims of the tragic accident, the family continues to grapple with the profound sense of loss and devastation. The father’s poignant words serve as a reminder of the irreplaceable void left behind by the untimely passing of a beloved daughter and sister. The memory of Oslo Mwendwa will forever remain in the hearts of those who were touched by her warmth, compassion, and unwavering spirit.
