The family of the late Felix Ole Kintosi broke their silence on Monday, April 8, following the release of 6 suspects in the murder case. They expressed their concerns about the prospect of achieving justice after popular DJ Joe Mfalme, once a suspect in the case, was turned into a State witness.
During a press conference, a family member voiced their doubts about the fairness of the judicial process, especially after learning that key suspects had been set free. The family highlighted that the main suspect allegedly worked for one of the released individuals, leading them to question the integrity of the investigation.
Felix Ole Kintosi, a former police officer, was brutally beaten on March 16 and later passed away from his injuries while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital. The incident reportedly occurred in Kikuyu after a minor traffic altercation, with the suspects accused of assaulting Kintosi before police officers from the Kikuyu Police Station intervened.
Contrary to initial reports, Kintosi did not die immediately after the beating. He was taken into custody and released the following day before returning home. According to his family, Kintosi disclosed that he was attacked by multiple individuals, leading to severe abdominal pain and subsequent hospitalization, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Following their arrest on March 23, DJ Joe Mfalme and his co-accused were set free by the Kibera Law Courts on bail to cooperate with ongoing police investigations. Kintosi was laid to rest on Friday, with the family appealing to the authorities to ensure that all responsible for his death are held accountable.
The family’s plea for justice emphasizes the need for a thorough and transparent legal process to uncover the truth behind Felix Ole Kintosi’s tragic demise. Despite the setbacks in the case, they remain hopeful that the authorities will uphold the rule of law and deliver justice for their late loved one.
