Kenya Power, commonly known as KPLC and trading under the KPLC ticker on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, has implemented a system where they advise their customers to check for planned power blackouts a week in advance. This proactive approach aims to keep customers informed and prepared for any disruptions in power supply.

The power distribution company leverages social media platforms to provide daily updates on areas that will be affected by planned blackouts. Customers can easily access this information and plan accordingly. For example, recent updates included planned blackouts in areas such as Tassia, Embakasi including Garrison, NACICO, Kenya Cold Storage, and Gikomba Market. Additionally, other affected areas were in Kiambu County, Mombasa County, Homa Bay County, and Machakos County.

To check for planned power interruptions, Kenya Power advises its clients to visit their website, kplc.co.ke, and navigate to the Customer Service Section. Within this section, customers can choose the Planned Power Interruptions option, which will redirect them to a page displaying weekly advisories in a descending order. By selecting the most recent posting, customers can view the seven-day advisory, keeping them informed about any upcoming disruptions in power supply.

The most recent advisory, released on March 14, covers interruptions until Thursday, March 21. It impacts 11 counties, including Nairobi and Machakos, as well as Kilifi, Mombasa, Kiambu, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Embu, Homa Bay, Kakamega, and Uasin Gishu. Specific areas in Nairobi such as Kenyatta University, Lavington, and Westlands will experience power outages on designated days.

In the week of Thursday, March 7, to Wednesday, March 13, a total of 17 counties were affected by planned power interruptions. These included Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Siaya, Bungoma, Busia, Kisii, Homa Bay, Migori, Nyeri, Kiambu, Kilifi, Kwale, and Kitui. Customers are encouraged to stay up to date with the latest advisories to minimize any inconvenience caused by power outages.

Kenya Power is dedicated to providing reliable and efficient power supply to its customers. Their proactive approach to informing customers about planned power interruptions helps in managing expectations and minimizing disruptions. By utilizing digital platforms and regular updates, Kenya Power ensures that its customers are well-informed and prepared for any potential outages.
