The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers have successfully apprehended a gang of five individuals who have been causing terror among the residents of Naivasha. The arrest comes after a woman reported an incident where she was attacked by the gang in her home in the Mirera Estate on Valentine’s Day.

The distressing event occurred at 3 am, with the victim being held hostage by the armed individuals from 9 pm to 2 am. The woman, along with her two children and the house help, were threatened with their lives as the gang ransacked the house and made off with valuable items such as TV sets, laptops, a sound bar, and mobile phones. Fortunately, no physical harm was inflicted during the ordeal.

Following the report, the DCI, in collaboration with the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) team, launched an investigation to track down the perpetrators. Assistance was provided by the Operations Action Team (OAT) to locate the gang in the Northern part of Nakuru. Subsequently, one of the suspects was apprehended with a stolen vehicle, a black Nissan Dualis registered under the name of the complainant.

In a similar incident, a businessman named Moses Lichoro in the Kabuitu village in Meru faced a gang attack where his property, including his vehicle, house, and businesses, were set on fire. Despite seeking help from the police and recording a statement, the businessman suffered significant losses amounting to Ksh50 million as the gang took advantage of the absence of police presence at his premises.

The arrests of these individuals highlight the dedication and effectiveness of the DCI officers in combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents in the region. The successful operation serves as a reminder of the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the community in addressing security challenges.

The incidents in Naivasha and Meru underscore the need for continued vigilance and proactive measures to safeguard lives and property. It is essential for residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly and for law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and decisively in apprehending criminals and preventing further harm to the community.

Overall, the diligent efforts of the DCI officers in apprehending the gang responsible for the attacks in Naivasha demonstrate their commitment to upholding law and order and bringing perpetrators of crime to justice. The collaborative approach between different law enforcement units involved in the investigation showcases the effectiveness of coordinated efforts in combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of the residents.
