Digital Credit Providers (DCPs) are now asking customers to submit a valid national identity card and capture a live selfie before accessing loans on apps and websites, following tougher security requirements from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). 

While some customers have come out to lament what they have described as an invasion of their privacy and personal information, DCPs say the additional personal details are part of enhanced protection of one’s identity.
