Kenya Airways (KQ) recently hosted a special dinner and awards night in Accra to honor its travel trade partners who have played a vital role in the success of the airline in Ghana. The event, which took place at the luxurious Labadi Beach Hotel, was attended by over 40 travel companies who have been key partners of Kenya Airways in Ghana.

Operating in Ghana for several decades, Kenya Airways currently runs 10 flights per week to and from Accra, with additional services to other destinations in West Africa. The Country Manager of Kenya Airways, Madam Ruth Maweu, expressed gratitude to all the travel partners for their continued support and collaboration. She emphasized that the airline will work closely with its travel partners to enhance its operations in Ghana in the coming year.

During the event, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Eliphas Barine, highlighted the strong heritage of Kenya Airways, which was established in 1977. He encouraged the travel consultants to promote the airline with confidence, knowing that they are representing a reputable brand with a long history of service excellence. Ambassador Barine also provided an update on the visa policy for Ghanaian travelers visiting Kenya, mentioning that the process of reintroducing visa requirements for Ghanaian travelers is nearing completion. He assured that a final announcement on this matter is expected by the end of March.

In an effort to make Kenya a visa-free destination for all travelers, Kenya recently introduced the Electronic Travel Authorization (Kenya eTA) as a replacement for the previous eVisa system. This new policy allows citizens of all countries to apply for the eTA and receive their permits within three days, eliminating the need for a traditional visa application process. However, this change has impacted citizens of countries like Ghana, who previously enjoyed visa-free travel to Kenya.

Overall, the evening was a celebration of the strong partnership between Kenya Airways and its travel trade partners in Ghana. It underscored the airline’s commitment to providing exceptional service to passengers while working collaboratively with the travel industry to enhance the travel experience for all. Through these partnerships, Kenya Airways aims to strengthen its presence in Ghana and continue to serve as a leading carrier in the region.
