Three young men in Manyatta, Kisumu met a tragic end when they were lynched by an angry mob after being caught in the act of attempting to steal a motorbike from a rider. The trio, who were close friends and lived together, were cornered by a group of residents who traced them to their house within Manyatta Estate after the failed theft attempt.
The mob proceeded to beat the three men heavily before setting their bodies ablaze. When officers from Kasagam Police Station arrived at the scene, they found the lifeless bodies of the trio burnt beyond recognition. The bodies were then taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.

In a similar incident in November of the previous year, two robbers were cornered and beaten to death before being burnt in Pangani, Nairobi. A police report confirmed that the fire had engulfed both the victims, burning them beyond recognition. Their bodies were taken to the city mortuary pending a post-mortem examination. These incidents serve as a grim reminder of the dangers of mob justice and the need for law and order to prevail.
