Nollywood actor and lawyer Kenneth Okonkwo recently expressed his disapproval of the administration of President Bola Tinubu in a new interview with Channels Television’s Seun Okinbaloye. Okonkwo raised concerns about what he perceives as looming anarchy in the country and criticized Tinubu’s leadership decisions.
During the interview, Okonkwo called out Tinubu for allowing his children to stand before Ministers in the Order of Protocols during a recent visit to Qatar. He emphasized that Nigeria is not the same as Lagos, implying that Tinubu’s leadership style may not be as effective on a national scale. Okonkwo accused Tinubu of nepotism and went as far as stating that the nine months of Tinubu’s government have been worse than his predecessor, Muhammadu Tinubu.
In a passionate statement, Okonkwo expressed his concerns about the direction of the country under Tinubu’s leadership. He mentioned, “Anarchy looms in Nigeria. Nigeria isn’t Lagos where you sit down and decree things, and you expect it to work that way.” Okonkwo also compared Tinubu’s government to that of Buhari, stating that he initially thought Buhari’s regime would be the worst but that Tinubu’s government has surpassed it in just nine months.
One of Okonkwo’s major criticisms was Tinubu’s alleged favoritism towards his close associates from Lagos. He criticized Tinubu for focusing on appointing individuals from the Lagos axis instead of considering a more diverse pool of candidates. Okonkwo pointed out the implications of Tinubu’s choice to prioritize loyalty over competence in his appointments.
Furthermore, Okonkwo denounced Tinubu for allowing derogatory remarks about the military to be made during a visit to Aso Rock. He highlighted the lack of respect shown towards Nigerian military personnel and questioned the integrity of Tinubu’s leadership.
Overall, Okonkwo’s interview shed light on the growing discontent and disillusionment with the current administration under President Bola Tinubu. His remarks underscored concerns about nepotism, favoritism, and questionable leadership decisions that are impacting the country’s governance and stability.
As Nigeria continues to navigate through various challenges, voices like Kenneth Okonkwo’s serve as a reminder of the importance of holding leaders accountable and advocating for transparency, fairness, and responsible governance. Only time will tell how Tinubu’s administration responds to these criticisms and whether meaningful changes will be made to address the concerns raised by individuals like Okonkwo.
