The long-standing rivalry between Bul and KCCA has been simmering for the past seven years, setting the stage for an exciting Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal match at Njeru this Saturday. Both clubs have had a mixed season, adding extra significance to this clash.

Abdallah Mubiru’s KCCA is aiming for their 11th trophy while Bul’s coach, Abbey Kikomeko, is gunning for his first StarTimes Uganda Premier League title and a potential Uganda cup double. A Uganda Cup victory for KCCA would help erase their league struggles and mark Mubiru’s first major success in his coaching career spanning almost two decades.

For Bul, winning the Uganda Cup would mean a chance to return to the Caf Confederation Cup, a tournament they last tasted two years ago. It would also set them up for a possible domestic cup and league double, a feat they have never achieved before.

Having lost to Bul in the league at Njeru and drawing at Lugogo, a win in the quarterfinals and progression to the semis would be a significant achievement for Mubiru in his first season in charge. KCCA’s recent league wins have boosted their morale, making them determined to reclaim their glory and prove themselves as a formidable side.

With match winners like Muhammad Shaban and Ashraf Mugume ready to lead the charge, KCCA is optimistic about overcoming Bul’s challenge. However, they must be wary of Bul’s strong defense, led by ten-goal hero Alex Kitata.

As KCCA seeks to end a trophyless streak, they must overcome their struggles on away trips, especially to the East where Bul awaits. On the other hand, Bul, coming off a convincing 3-0 victory over Wakiso Giants, will rely on their experienced players to secure a win against KCCA.

In another quarterfinal match, Pajule Lions and Pakwach Young Stars will battle it out for a spot in the semifinals. The tournament offers a cash prize of Shs50m for the winners, Shs25m for the runners-up, and Shs12m for the semi-finalists. Additionally, the victor earns a slot in the lucrative Caf Confederation Cup.

The stage is set for an intense showdown between Bul and KCCA at the Fufa Technical Center in Njeru. As both teams vie for glory and redemption, Saturday’s match promises to be a thrilling encounter that could shape their respective seasons.
