Judges caution against delays as 2026 Kampala election petitions enter pre-trial stage

Judges at the Kampala High Court Monday commenced pre-trial scheduling of election petitions arising from the January 2026 parliamentary and Local Council elections, cautioning litigants against unnecessary delays and urging them to explore mediation where possible.

At least 20 election petitions have been cause-listed at the Kampala High Court and distributed among four justices, with 17 already handled through pre-trial scheduling conferences on the first day, September 14, 2026.
