After displaying an impressive performance against Francis Ngannou in their world heavyweight boxing bout, Anthony Joshua is now eyeing a showdown with WBC champion Tyson Fury. Joshua secured a second-round knockout victory over Ngannou, setting up a potential clash with the winner of the undisputed fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Fury.
Joshua has long been eager to step into the ring with Fury, especially after several failed attempts to make the all-British showdown a reality. Despite Fury previously claiming he was ‘done’ with Joshua, it now appears that the two heavyweight giants are on a collision course, thanks to the financial backing from Saudi Arabia.
Although Joshua will have to wait for Usyk and Fury to complete their two-fight agreement, he is not content with sitting on the sidelines. During an interview with Sky Sports at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Joshua expressed his desire to face Fury, even offering to fight him in Fury’s own backyard.
“I’ll fight him in his back garden, it doesn’t matter to me,” Joshua stated. “I’m a fighting man, you know what I’m saying? Wherever, whenever, however – it doesn’t matter. As long as we deliver for the fans, that’s the main thing.”
Reflecting on his recent victory over Ngannou, Joshua emphasized the importance of moving forward and staying focused on the next challenge. With a potential bout against Usyk and Fury on the horizon, Joshua made it clear that he is ready to make the fight happen whenever the opportunity arises.
“I feel like a win just moves me onto not dwelling in my sorrows too much because a loss isn’t nice for anyone. And then in terms of Usyk and Fury, it’s really up to them. I’m only a phone call away. Even better, I’m only a tweet away. You can tweet me and we can make the deal, so it will happen,” Joshua explained.
Joshua is expected to return to the ring in June or July following Usyk and Fury’s initial clash in May. While awaiting the outcome of that fight, IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic is likely to be Joshua’s next opponent.
With the boxing world buzzing about a potential showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, fans are eagerly anticipating what could be one of the biggest fights in recent memory. As both fighters continue to showcase their skills and dominance in the ring, the prospect of seeing them finally square off is becoming more and more exciting for boxing enthusiasts worldwide.
