The whole world is celebrating International Women’s Rights Day on Friday, March 8, 2024. Moov Africa Benin, through its Foundation, did not miss out on this celebration. They chose the Sô-Tchanhoué district in the commune of Sô-Ava.
In order to reaffirm its social commitment to improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable social groups – women and children, and in line with this year’s theme “Investing in Women, Accelerating Progress,” the Moov Africa Benin Foundation offered a significant amount of materials including mobile phones, solar freezers, adapted bacteria, solar panels, condiment mills, buckets, and basins of different categories to women’s groups in the lakeside village. They also thought of the children, whose academic success is a source of pride for parents and the entire nation, by providing them with school kits consisting of bags, notebooks, slates, pens, glue pots, and pencils.
Marie-Claude Deguenon, the representative of the Director General, emphasized that Moov Africa Benin wanted to contribute to the empowerment of women by improving communication in the Sô Ava community, especially for women. The Foundation decided to support women’s groups by providing them with materials and also to congratulate their children.
According to Aurore Houngbedji, the Executive Secretary of the Moov Africa Benin Foundation, an empowered and flourishing woman ensures a happy home, a peaceful community, and ultimately a stable and developed nation. A woman who has access to economic opportunities, controls resources, and fully enjoys her social rights effectively contributes to the development of her household, community, country, and humanity. It is with this perspective that Moov Africa Benin made this donation to the women and children of the Sô Tchanhoué district.
The Mayor of the Sô Ava Commune, André Todjé, expressed his gratitude to Moov Africa Benin and its Foundation for choosing their district for this generous gesture. He also thanked the women’s groups in the commune who work with dedication and courage to support their families despite socio-economic challenges.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Moov Africa Benin at the end of the ceremony, which concluded with a festive atmosphere.
