Training young Moroccan citizens and giving them the opportunity to have a regular seasonal work contract in Italy is the objective of the agreement protocol that will be signed on Thursday, March 28 in Palermo between the Association of Foreign Workers in Sicily (Als Mcl Sicilia), the Umana Solidarietà Consortium, and the General Union of Moroccan Workers (Ugtm), according to a Sicilian media source.
It is worth noting that in June 2023, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies adopted the “guidelines for the preparation and evaluation of professional and civic-linguistic training programs for third-country nationals living abroad.”
The programs aim at professional integration in Italy and, as provided by the consolidation law on immigration after the changes introduced by the so-called “Cutro” decree, foreign workers trained abroad will be able to arrive in Italy and be hired outside of the quotas set by the “flow decrees.”
The signing of the protocol will mark the beginning of the development of professional and civic-linguistic training programs in Morocco aimed at providing participants with specific knowledge for practicing a profession or a given work activity.
Paolo Ragusa, regional president of Als – Mcl Sicilia; Driss Abelhad, provincial secretary of the Ugtm union (Fes); honorable Fina Marchetta, regional deputy; Martina Novello, referent of the Umana solidarity consortium; Giorgio D’Antoni, regional president of Mcl Sicilia; Cipriano Sciacca, regional secretary of Confsal; Angelo Conti, mayor of Valledolmo; and the representatives of the companies that will welcome the young people trained in Morocco and who will be employed in Italy (the textile company SF Confezioni di Spartà Filippo and some farms in the municipality of Valledolmo) will be present at the event.
