The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized, on this day coinciding with the celebration of Independence Day, Tunisia’s determination to prioritize the principles of dialogue, equality, mutual respect, diversity, solidarity, and peace, which are the foundations of any common Francophone action.

Tunisia, as a founding member of the Francophonie, continues to work with its Francophone counterparts to energize the Francophone family for a more united, effective, and innovative action to meet the aspirations of Francophone peoples, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a declaration released on the occasion of International Francophonie Day. The department emphasized, on this day coinciding with the celebration of Independence Day, Tunisia’s determination to prioritize the principles of dialogue, equality, mutual respect, diversity, solidarity, and peace, which are the foundations of any common Francophone action. Tunisia reiterates its call for declarations to be accompanied by concrete actions to mobilize the engagement of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) to end the barbaric offensive and genocide committed by Israeli occupation forces and their allies against the Palestinian people, the same source specifies. Tunisia celebrates International Francophonie Day on March 20 of each year, in commemoration of the signing, on March 20, 1970, in Niamey, of the convention creating the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation, which has since become the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).
