Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, expressed his gratitude towards President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State for their leadership roles in the emergence of Ife Ehindero as the House of Representatives member-elect for Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency. Ehindero won the constituency’s by-election on Saturday, marking a significant achievement in the democratic process. Tunji-Ojo acknowledged the importance of allowing citizens to freely choose their representatives and commended Tinubu for creating an environment where democracy can thrive in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

In a statement released on Monday in Akure, the minister emphasized that Ehindero was not only a worthy successor but also someone who is set to elevate the federal constituency to greater heights through his capable representation. Mentioning his own previous position as the representative of the constituency in the house of representatives, he expressed his appreciation for the continuity of effective and efficient representation that the APC has been providing since 2019. Additionally, Tunji-Ojo acknowledged the stewardship of the APC national leadership, under Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as well as the dedication and zest of the Ondo State APC executive committee, led by Mr. Ade Adetimehin, for leading the party to yet another victory.

As a member of the APC family, Tunji-Ojo emphasized that the goal remains the development of the federal constituency through quality representation. He expressed confidence that the people who entrusted Ehindero with this important mandate will not be disappointed. Furthermore, Tunji-Ojo extended his appreciation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for upholding the principles of democracy as an unbiased umpire throughout the electoral process. He also commended the security agencies for their efforts before, during, and after the polls, which contributed to a peaceful environment in which the elections were conducted.

Overall, the minister’s statement highlights the significance of democratic processes and the critical role of effective and efficient representation in the development of constituencies. It also emphasizes the importance of strong leadership and stewardship within the APC, as well as the commitment to upholding the tenets of democracy by both the electoral commission and the security agencies. The victory of Ife Ehindero in the by-election serves as a reflection of the democratic values and the party’s dedication to providing quality representation for the constituency.
