Taking advantage of the ceremony to provide new rolling stock to the defense and security forces, on Tuesday, April 16 at the N’tchoréré camp (Baraka), the president of the Transition urged the various bodies to put an end to the growing insecurity observed in recent days, particularly in Libreville.
More than 130 vehicles and specific clothing items have been made available to the Gabonese defense and security forces, as part of a vast program aimed at addressing the deficit criticized for several years within the different units. While General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema stated that this equipment aims to improve the working conditions of his brothers in arms, he did not fail to urge them to be worthy of it, particularly by ensuring the security of the Gabonese people.
“You have just received new equipment. Flood the city with motorized and foot patrols, including in the isolated neighborhoods, because we have repaired the secondary roads. I want to remind you that the security of people and property is a major concern of the Committee for the transition and restoration of institutions,” declared the President of the Transition.
The speech of the head of the CTRI comes as the anxiety gradually spreads among the populations due to the recurrence of assaults and homicides recorded in recent times. “This increase in insecurity is a worrying situation that I do not tolerate,” he said, while reminding the agents that ensuring the security of the Gabonese people must be done “in compliance with procedures.” The objective being to avoid possible abuses. Also, he reminded each component of their responsibilities.
