Nigerian singer and songwriter, Timi Dakolo, recently addressed the misconception that he is a gospel artist, clarifying that his music is diverse and cannot be boxed into a specific genre. In an interview with Cool FM Nigeria, hosted by OAP Dotun, Dakolo emphasized that he is more than just a wedding singer and discussed the variety of themes present in his music.
When asked if he is a gospel musician, Dakolo responded by stating that he does not categorize himself as such. He compared his profession to that of a banker or architect, emphasizing that just as there are not “gospel bankers” or “gospel architects,” he should not be limited to one specific genre as an artist.
