The Ijesha Global Alliance for Development (IGAD) has launched the Ijesha Digital Hub and has welcomed its first cohort of 107 trainees in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and UI/UX Design. The hub, located at Olashore International School in Iloko-Ijesha, aims to position Ijeshaland as a center of excellence in the digital space. The training of the first cohort commenced on January 4, bringing together promising Ijesha youths who aspire to become skilled workers and techno-entrepreneurs in the global digital economy.
The inauguration of the hub was attended by prominent speakers and community leaders, including royal figures such as Kabiyesi Owaloko, the Oniwoye of Iwoye-Ijesha, and Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, among others. The event highlighted the importance of technology in shaping the future, with a focus on investing in the human capital of Ijesha youth to drive the region’s development agenda.
Dr. Adewale Alonge, Vice President of IGAD, emphasized the urgency of investing in youth human capital development in Nigeria, which has the largest youth population in the world. He stressed that the Ijesha Digital Hub represents an investment in the future of Ijesha youth and is essential for the region’s development.
The event also emphasized the significance of fostering entrepreneurial drive and soft skills among the youth. Dr. Wale Alonge, Vice President of IGAD, highlighted that the hub is not only training for technical proficiency but also exemplifying entrepreneurship and soft skills. The hub aims to stimulate innovation and focus on real-world applications.
The chairman of IGAD, Prince Abimbola Olashore, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that led to the establishment of the hub. He acknowledged the hub’s potential to transform the workforce, foster economic growth, and promote sustainability.
The keynote speech delivered by Dr. Ayoola of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN) emphasized the importance of mindset shift for digital success. He stressed the need for a positive mindset and highlighted the potential for leveraging technology to create solutions for the nation’s challenges.
Dr. Peter Adewale Obadare, Chief Visionary Officer of Digital Encode Limited, underscored the importance of skills in cybersecurity and technology, emphasizing that technology offers diverse paths to success beyond traditional fields. He presented a 3D formula for success in the digital age, focusing on determination, dedication, and discipline.
