Queen Mother Best Kemigisa Saturday revealed the anguish she endured during King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV’s illness, saying she “begged God to take her first instead of her son,” as she appealed to a grieving Tooro to “remain united amid tensions over the kingdom’s succession.”
Speaking at the funeral service for the late King, led by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, the Queen Mother said she prayed repeatedly for God to spare Oyo, but eventually had to accept that his death was beyond her control.
