Bla, March 18 (AMAP) The conference room of the prefecture hosted the meeting of the Management Council of the Bla Health District on Thursday, March 14, 2024, under the chairmanship of the Circle Prefect, Ms. Fanta SAMAKE, as noted by AMAP.
Present at this meeting were the Sub-Prefects, Mayors, the village chief of Bla, the Presidents of Community Health Associations (ASACO), the Technical Directors of the Center (DTC), the president of Civil Society, youth, the head of the local department for the promotion of women, children, and families, the head of the local department for social development and solidarity economy, and Representatives of Technical and Financial Partners (PTF), representatives from the two regional directorates (health and social development and solidarity economy) and local radio stations.
The objective of this meeting was to present and validate the activities of 2023, present the operational plan for 2023, and review the status of referrals and evacuations.
In her opening speech, the prefect emphasized the commitment of local authorities to ensure that the population frequents community health centers rather than private clinics that do not meet standards. She then asked the chief medical officer and the mayors of the different municipalities in the Circle to identify all healthcare facilities in their area that do not meet standards so that measures and sanctions can be taken to ensure compliance with regulations or closure by competent authorities.
After the opening of the session by the prefect, the presentations continued with discussion periods. Before the reading of the daily report, recommendations were made. Among them, updating ASACO that are behind on payment of referral fees, training and equipping ASACO monitoring committees.
At the end of the discussions, the Circle Prefect encouraged citizens, especially ASACO presidents, mayors, to do everything possible to ensure that referrals and evacuations are not interrupted due to non-payment. “Given the importance of this referral and evacuation, the maternal mortality rate has decreased compared to 2022. It is something that should not be overlooked,” she concluded.
To further encourage the staff, some DTCs received Certificates of Recognition for their well-done work. Specifically, a “Ciwara” and a certificate were awarded posthumously to the late Dramane SOGOBA, DTC of the Maréla Health Center who passed away at the end of 2023.
