Ghanaian drama series ENO is set to return for a second season on Showmax on 12th February 2024, with new episodes being released weekly. The first season of ENO was one of the most-watched titles on Showmax in Ghana in 2022 when it was first launched.
Award-winning director Shirley Frimpong-Manso, who helms the series, expressed her satisfaction in creating Ghanaian content that resonates with the local audience. She mentioned that there was something special about ENO’s story from the beginning, particularly the struggle of a mother to ensure her daughters have a better life, which many African mothers can relate to.
The upcoming season, ENO S2, follows the story of a controlling mother, Abena Baafi, who must rescue her daughters Tessa and Safowaa from the repercussions of her advice, which revolved solely around money. The unexpected loss of one daughter and the arrival of another disrupts all of Abena’s plans and plunges the family into chaos.
The director, Shirley, is excited about the new season and believes that her team has done an even better job this time, having gained a deeper understanding of the characters and their struggles.
The new season picks up months after the Season 1 finale, with Abena coming to terms with her authoritarian past and the impact it has had on her daughters. The arrival of her ex-husband’s estranged daughter further complicates the family dynamic. The emotionally charged second season explores the disappearance of the younger sister, Kendall, and the discovery of buried ambitions by Tessa and Safowaa, with serious consequences.
The cast includes returning actors Gloria Osei-Sarfo, Emelia Asiedu, Esi Hammond, along with new additions like John Dumelo, Michael Katahena, Godwin Namboh, and others.
ENO S2 is part of the exciting February 2024 lineup on Showmax, joining other original African series and international hits. This release coincides with the revamped Showmax platform, featuring a new look, app, and product suite.
