The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Mustapha Ussif, recently expressed his gratitude towards President Nana Akufo Addo and all stakeholders involved in the successful hosting of the African Games in Ghana. He emphasized the importance of thanking the president for his confidence and trust in the ability of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and others to organize and execute the event.
During a meeting with Ghanaian medalists from the Games at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, the Minister highlighted the significance of the occasion as a day of thanksgiving. He commended the commitment and dedication shown by all involved, which ultimately led to the successful hosting of the event. Mr. Ussif took the opportunity to thank President Akufo Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, First and Second Ladies Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia, as well as the Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare for their support.
In addition to the government officials, Mr. Ussif expressed gratitude towards the media, both local and international, for their exceptional coverage of the event. The Minister also praised the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) and its staff, the security services, Ghana’s Chef D’Mission (CDM) Ernest Danso, athletes, doctors, and all individuals who contributed to Team Ghana’s success. He recognized their dedication, commitment, and motivation behind the scenes that played a crucial role in Ghana’s achievement at the Games.
Furthermore, Mr. Ussif commended the fans for creating an electrifying atmosphere at the respective venues throughout the Games. Their support and enthusiasm added to the overall success of the event.
Ghana’s performance at the African Games was notable, as the country placed sixth among over 50 participating nations. This achievement was further highlighted by Ghana’s highest medal haul in the history of the Games, with a total of 68 medals.
